Queenstown. ♥ ahhh, saying its name just brings back euphoric sense of joy!

Day 1 was just filled with waking up early and catching flights. Delayed flight, that is. Despite the mishaps, we found ourselves just gobsmacked, right in the middle of so much beauty this quaint little town contains. We stayed at The Hilton Queenstown, a lovely spot that can be found nestled inside the Kawarau Village where we get to wake up at the beautiful Lake Wakatipu everyday.

Lake Wakatipu, literally, a stone's throw away from our room.

Already famished from a tiring day, we headed out for dinner. We wanted to try NZ’s iconic Fergburgerhowever the queue was really long (insert almost-a-block-long-45mins-worth-of-wait-just-for-a-burger) so we went to try another burger joint, Arnold’s Dineran American-style Diner. Considering that it was a cold Monday night, I was surprised at how packed the place already is by 6pm! TIP: Assume everybody else is hungry, just like you! And that most restaurant's dinner rush starts at 6pm anyway. So that was a wrong move to be starving at that time!

We ended up having dinner at Brazz on the Green. The place did its job to fill our rumbling and cold tummies. Upon entering its doors, the classic rustic atmosphere instantly warms and welcomes you. The restaurant's fireplace on a -2°C night pretty much sealed the deal. The food was appetising, but we could honestly say that we've had better. So here's what we ate and the price for each.

Pork belly crackling w/ creamy mash potato, braised cabbage and bacon gravy jus NZ$ 28.5

Full rack baby back ribs w/ hickory BBQ sauce w/ a side of chips and very puny amount of salad (i know right!) NZ$ 36

Garlic Prawn w/ melted mozzarella and cheddar and a bland and slightly tough Turkish bread NZ$20

Fettuccine Carbonara NZ$25

Crispy skin salmon w/ steamed veggies and hollandaise sauce NZ$30
So looking at the food above, the only thing we couldn't complain much was the carbonara. Quite honestly, the sinful sauce was the one that got us hooked.  But the rest is quite trivial. We didn't expect much considering it tagged itself as a casual dining restau-bar. However, with the price of each meal, which is hefty BTW, we would have expected something a lot significantly palatable. And the serve time took more than half an hour. And considering we're already hungry like the wolf, that felt like a century's wait!

So what did you guys think about Brazz on the Green? Are we just so cold back then that our palate might have frozen as well? Let us know.
